Tera Types in Competitive Play

Terastallizing changes your Pokémon's type(s) to a single chosen Tera Type. Key strategic uses:

- **Defensive tera**: Remove a weakness (e.g. a Steel type teraing to Ghost to avoid Fighting/Ground) - **Offensive tera**: Add STAB to a coverage move (e.g. Tera Water on a Charizard using Surf) - **Surprise factor**: Opponents won't know your Tera Type until you reveal it

Every Pokémon has a fixed Tera Type determined by its individual encounter. You can change it with Tera Shards.
